First rule of the contest: there are no rules!

The Creo AI Contest was organized to give the agency maximum creative freedom. We asked everyone to interact with artificial intelligence and produce creative images starting from an idea, a concept reworked into a string to be written as a prompt for the Midjourney platform.

Each participant could submit up to 3 images to the contest, accompanied by a description of the concept and the string used.

Participation exceeded expectations: 64 images submitted by 30 participants.

12 winners, 12 artworks that will be exhibited in our spaces to continue inspiring us.

I am a 3D Designer. My imagination is my only limit. I can’t deny the frustration I sometimes feel when I see someone without my academic background doing something that, in theory, could only be done using the tools I work with every day. BUT this tool is something we created - and it was designed, among other things, to help those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to do it.

My generation turns to Google for every question. Imagine if we had chosen not to use it, just to preserve the gesture and habit of flipping through an encyclopedia.
We are evolving - regardless of the direction - and this is a train we cannot afford to miss.
Be curious. Be human in how you use this extraordinary tool. Emanuele Starace, 3D Artist

"Midjourney is an artificial intelligence-based technology capable of creating original images from textual descriptions, just like other AI programs.” An outrage to the creative world? No! Midjourney is “only” a new technology that can support human beings, being guided by them -and not the other way around- through a dialogue based on an alternative type of language. It is a useful tool for developing and concretizing imagination, which could become a valuable source of inspiration for all creatives! This platform represents evolution, development, and the future, but it is also curiosity, creativity, and knowledge. It is important to experiment and create with Midjourney to contribute to both personal and global growth! Elena Deffacis, Sustainability Manager - First runner-up Creo AI Contest

Even though I recognize that it’s not something that comes naturally to me and that it makes me a bit nervous, as it forces me to confront some of my own limitations - limitations that may come with age or simply because I have them - I have to accept it. I found the atmosphere that developed among us magical... there was a moment when everyone was asking something and everyone was answering... “how do you say... in English?”, “do you think it’s okay if I write...?”, “I can’t log in, what should I type?”, “is it not working????”, “how many have you done?”, “sorry, can you come here for a second... what do you think?”... I believe that, aside from the ones we created together, even all the others contain something from each of us. And on the day of the “award ceremony”... I felt the same magic again... all of us together. There were some emotional moments. So thank you to those who organized and helped us go beyond. Giovanna Guglielmi, Executive Retail Manager

Curiosity is human... I saw the first AI-generated images on Instagram, many people were posting striking visuals at first glance, but when I zoomed in, I began to notice imperfections.
At the time, I still naively thought it wasn’t a real artistic style. While exploring further, I came across this tool, and my first thought was: “Give it two months and I’ve lost my job.” But at the very same moment, I also thought: “It’s incredible that a machine can do this - in such a short amount of time!”

Giulia La Ganga, Digital Art Director & Social Media Specialist

Since I became passionate about reading, I’ve loved imagining and illustrating what I read.
I often search for photos of real people to find the face of a character I had only pictured in my mind. Then I found myself facing an artificial intelligence doing the same thing I was - but at a speed and quality that sparked some uncomfortable emotions.
But then I saw my sister using it - someone who doesn’t know how to draw or work in post-production — and she lit up with excitement at the chance to give shape to her own ideas.

And that’s what it is.
I started using it during those moments when my imagination was running low, and it gave me excellent starting points to build new ideas from. Selene Rigatelli, 3D Artist

Creativity means absolute freedom of thought - different concepts connected with the aim of visualizing an image: the image of your thoughts, of everyone’s thoughts.
Midjourney draws from the vast digital world and the content that has been uploaded to it over time. I like to think that every generated image is the result of millions of minds, hundreds of hands, and dozens of hearts. Experimenting with a new way of creating, imagining, and developing a creative concept was both interesting and stimulating.
It was truly rewarding to see everyone’s enthusiasm in taking part in the contest - and to witness creative ideas emerge even from those who don’t normally work in creative roles within the agency. Everyone was able to participate from the same starting point and express themselves freely, supported by technology.
And this is what technology should be for us: a tool to elevate and enhance our expressive potential. Chiara Manieri, Digital Innovation Manager
